Days # 114-119

So I got very behind with no really good reason. I was still taking photos, just not posting them. I'll blame it on Maddy's surgery but really she was better and at daycare the next day. I did have a really hectic week at work and then the weekend was busy and hectic with school, gym, housework and other errands. I am posting 6 days of pics all in one post but with their own picture and short description. I'm doing them backwards from newest to oldest so it keeps up with the flow of the rest of the blog.

Day #119
Ted, Maddy and I went to Target today to get a few odds and ends as well as some things for our upcoming Bahamas trip. We were taking our time which after a while annoyed Maddy. Ted ended up holding her while she "pushed" the cart which was quite fun.

Day #118
Maddy and I got home from running errands today and she insisted on using the key to lock and unlock the door. She did pretty well (and played with it for 20 minutes) but every once in a while she would run into the kitchen and shout STUCK because the key was in upside down and then she couldn't get it back out.

Day #117

Maddy and I did some self-portraits tonight after bath. Big smiles for everyone!

Day #116
This is the Mr. Potato Head that we got after Maddy's surgery. Apparently it's Mr. P's 60th anniversary so a lot of the parts are birthday celebrated (party hat, etc.). She loves him!

Day #115
We got Japanese food for our anniversary dinner last night and Maddy loved it. Miso soup, edamame, tempura and gyoza. Mmmm tasty!

Day #114
Ted and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary today (April 24). This picture was taken last weekend on a date night out. We're both looking forward to many more happy and healthy years together.

Day #113

Maddy got tubes in her ears this morning at Mary Bridges Children's Hospital. We had to be there at 8am and it took a while to get all prepped and ready for surgery. After meeting with the doctor and the anesthesiologist  they took Maddy back around 9:30am. Ted had a meeting at 10 that he couldn't cancel so he had to leave, but I was SO glad that my friend Jenn could come stay with me while we waited for the surgery to be over and to help with Maddy once she was done.

The whole surgery and recovery only took about 30 minutes and then I was able to be reunited with Maddy. She did not wake up from the anesthesia well and was crying and very upset for quite a while. We were released shortly after and she did much better at home minus some nausea from the  medicine. By the afternoon she was back on track eating and playing.

She loved the Mr. Potato Head at the hospital so she and I went out this afternoon to get her one of her own as a reward. Hopefully we won't have any more surgeries for a very long time because it was WAY too stressful!

Day #112

We took Maddy to a Ears, Nose and Throat specialist this afternoon to have her ears checked after all of the ear infections she's had. The doctor said she had quite a bit of fluid in her ears and he recommended tubes. Since Ted and I will be out of town for a week at the beginning of May, it made sense to do them as soon as possible, which ended up being TOMORROW (whoa, that was fast). So we are scheduled for her out-patient surgery at 10am at Mary Bridges Children's Hospital. The biggest challenge is that Maddy can't eat after midnight tonight and so tomorrow morning is going to be very difficult :(

Here is a photo from the doctor's office today in the big girl exam chair!

Day #111

We had to get a new BBQ grill because the rust had gotten to ours and it was toast! We went to Sears and picked a new one up and then had to spend the afternoon putting it together. Maddy was determined to help us and sometimes was even helpful (she was not helpful when she took a few of the screws and ran around the house dropping them everywhere or when she tried to hand Ted the screwdriver only to almost poke him in the eye). Here are a bunch of pictures of the day of our adventures!

Say cheese for our new sparkly grill!

And now Maddy has a giant box to play in!

Helping with the screw driver!

Daddy and his helper!

Day #110

Maddy and I have a new tradition where we go grocery shopping when we first wake up on Saturday or Sunday morning, which is usually pretty early thanks to Maddy. We're usually at the grocery store around 7am which is really nice because no one else is there. We have a good time strolling around getting groceries and taking our time. It is really nice! Here she is in the produce section!

Day #109

When Maddy shouts/screams/screeches, we put our finger up to our lips and say shhhhh. She's learned that this means be quiet and will often do it back to you. Unfortunately she will also shout/scream/screech louder in order to do the finger/shhhhh trick again. Not sure it's really working, but it's kind of cute. Here she is shhhh herself in the bathtub.

Day #108

I bought Maddy these fun cars today at Target. They are a little squishy and make fun sounds and also when you pull them back, they zoom across the wood floors. She loved them and chased them all over!

Day 106 & 107

Maddy and I were being silly tonight and knew we were a day behind with photo of the day so we took quite a few photos of ourselves and are posting the best 2 as photo of the days! The second one is what happens if you ask her where her tongue is :)

Day #105 - 18 Months Old

Maddy just turned 18 months (ONE AND A HALF) and is definitely not a baby anymore. The picture below shows her in one of her baby toys (which we got out for our friend Case who will be visiting with his mom Kendra at the beginning of May). She is so not a baby and is a big girl now!

We had her 18 month check-up this afternoon. Maddy did great overall (and does NOT have an ear infection, thank goodness)! She's doing really well health-wise and even better developmentally. She "passed" all the milestones they expect from a two year old especially with vocabulary. Our pediatrician asked how many words we thought she spoke and we agreed that it was more than 20. Upon coming home we made a list and came up with 42! Here they are:

banana, apple, cracker, water, cup, cheese, shoe, sock, bath, bye bye, night night, duck, ball, book, sheep, purple, up, down, more, maddy, no, dada, mama, bailey, bath, eye, nose, toe sit, teeth, uh oh, poop, potty, dog, hi, baby, papa, snack, car, crab, and all done

She weighted in at 23lbs3oz (35th percentile) and was 32 inches long (61st percentile).

Day #104

We cleaned out the garage today (a much needed task) and found Maddy's tricycle. Great Grandma got it for her for her birthday but it was a little too big. We brought it inside and while the pedals are still a little too far to reach, Maddy LOVES it! She sat on it most of the afternoon and pushed herself around the house. Yay for belated birthday presents!

Day #103

Maddy got some play dough in her Easter basket but we hadn't been brave enough to use it because we thought the mess would be enormous. On Friday when I went to pick her up at daycare, she was playing with play dough and having a great time so we decided to try it out at home today. She had a blast (and it wasn't that messy).

Day #102

The cats are primarily indoor cats but do go outside and hang out in the yard or very nearby. They are typically outside for 30 minutes to 2 hours at most. Ted noticed today when he came home for lunch that Tito wasn't in the house, he also wasn't waiting to come in the house from outside. Ted looked everywhere and couldn't find him. When I got home, he still wasn't here and we talked about when we saw him last and came up with at least 24 hours before. We looked everywhere in the house and around the house and he was nowhere. We were very worried. After looking on the humane society website we started to make a plan for the weekend to put up fliers and check the humane society in person. We are both pretty attached to Tito and were very sad at the idea that he might not be with us anymore. Around 9:30pm, Ted went downstairs one last time to see if Tito was at either door wanting to come in. We crossed all our fingers and Ted headed down and quickly shouted, HE'S HERE! Whew, what a relief. We hugged him (even though he was soaking wet) and quickly stuffed him with cat treats. Tito gets to be photo of the day!

Day #101

Maddy and Bailey are fast friends :) Yay for doggie snuggles!

Day #100

ONE HUNDRED DAYS! Wow, I can't believe we've posted pictures for 100 days! Some days the last thing I want to do is take a picture and then post it but it really has made me look for opportunities to celebrate the little things that we do each day. It's been really nice to document our lives in a quick and easy way.

Ted laid down new sod in the backyard tonight (a task we do a couple of times a year thanks to our super tiny yard with no drainage). It always looks good for a while so we figured it deserved picture of the day!

Day #99

After dinner tonight Maddy and I played ball with Bailey. Maddy had just as much fun chasing the balls as Bailey did :)

Day #98

We made pizza and Maddy had a blast! Ted helped her make her own little pizza and she really enjoyed adding toppings (especially the pepperoni). She also really liked eating the toppings! Yay pizza!

Day #97

We got home from Vancouver earlier this afternoon. While Ted power washed the front and back patios, I made food for the week and Maddy colored in her high chair. It was a very productive afternoon!

Day #96

We went to Vancouver, WA to visit Aunt Linda, Uncle Bob and Grandma Great! Maddy had so much fun with her family. Uncle Bob made a fun house/fort out of a giant box, Aunt Linda bought her two fun musical books and Grandma Great had fun singing songs and telling stories (see below). It was a great trip, although a little quick.

Day #95

We all got home a little early this Friday afternoon and are getting things done around the house. While I was cleaning up Maddy's clothes drawers I turned around and noticed she was sitting in her rocking chair reading a book. When she finished she climbed down, got a new book out of her toy box and then climbed back up (which was no easy task considering it's a rocking chair and moves and she struggles to pull herself up). I took a few photos to document her "adventures" in climbing.

Day #94

Ted and I take turns reading Maddy stories before bed. It's a fun way to relax in the evening and the only bummer is that the stories get a little repetitive (since she picks the same ones over and over again). We're always looking for fun new books to make it a little more interesting. It was Ted's turn tonight!

Day #93

Sometimes you need to make bath time even more fun. So tonight during hair shampooing, we made funny hair! Mohawks and curls. Here's a photo of our fun!

Day #92

Maddy had an injury today at daycare. Apparently while flipping all over on the changing table, she caught the side and hit her eye/face pretty hard (she moves non stop when you're trying to change her, so this was probably inevitable). She has a bruise and I'm sure unfortunately by tomorrow it will be even more prominent.

Day #91

Tonight I had class but luckily, due to a technical difficulty, class ended about an hour early which meant there was time to hang out with Maddy. We had a great time playing with toys in her room, including her princess castle. Fun times!
