We went to Oregon for Christmas this year to celebrate with the Grandparents, Aunt/Uncle and Cousin. We had a great time and had amazing weather. We visited santa, opened presents and even had professional photos taken with the family (photos to come). Maddy was a great traveler all the way to Oregon (a 6-7 hour trip).
Maddy and I flew to California in the middle of December to visit her Great Grandparents, Aunt & Uncle and Cousin. The trip was great overall and she was an amazing traveler. We were lucky to have great weather and had so much fun visiting with our family.
Maddy is now 2 months old. Growing like crazy! We love having her in our life and are adjusting to parenthood pretty well. Our upcoming goals include getting her to sleep all night in her crib (we've appreciated you swing, but we need to move on) and transitioning Mom back to work (Maddy will spend the next couple of months being taken care of by amazing grandparents before going to daycare at the end of February)!
Here are some pictures from our recent 2 month photo shoot. So many smiles!
Maddy had her 2 month check-up this morning. She weighed in at 10lbs 11oz (49th percentile) and measured 23 inches long (73rd percentile). She got 3 different shots and screamed her head off during the process. She's been asleep though ever since, so hopefully the rest of the day will be alright.
As part of her bedtime routine, we've started giving Maddy a bath everynight. It seems to be working and she typically sleeps for 5-6 hours straight when she first goes down for the night (followed by a couple 2-3 hour chunks). We're guessing it's because she tires herself out in the bathtub from all the kicking and splashing!
Well the overwhelming concensus is that Maddy is an exact replica of Ted and I would agree. She looks more and more like him every day. I thought I'd post a good picture of both of them to see what others think. As far as I can tell, they have the same mouth, the same face shape and the EXACT same eyes. Pretty cute :)
There is nothing special about this post except that I bought Maddy the cutest overalls when shopping the day after Thanksgiving and wanted to show them off. They have tiny pink hearts on them and she looks adorable so I took a bunch of photos. The last photo in her carseat was in my office as we stopped by my work for a few hours today. Everyone agreed that she was pretty cute :)
We celebrated Maddy's first Thanksgiving in Tacoma and were excited to spend the holiday at Grandma Merlene and Grandpa Rick's house but were joined for the long weekend by Grandma Kim and Grandpa Larry. In addition, Great Grandpa Merritt flew in from Lake Tahoe and got to meet his great granddaughter for the first time. Maddy thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and all of the time with family. She kept up her smiling :)
Maddy and Julie went to Vancouver today to visit Aunt Linda and Uncle Bob. Linda had met Maddy the day after she was born at the hospital but Bob had yet to meet her. Julie and Maddy drove about 2 hours to get to their house and Maddy slept the whole way. Linda and Bob held and played with Maddy and then everyone had lunch. It was a short visit (in an attempt to avoid traffic) so after a few hours Julie and Maddy packed back up and headed back to Tacoma. Maddy slept the whole way back as well, which was great! Thanks so much to Linda and Bob for such a wonderful day. It's so nice to have family so close :)
Maddy has been smiling for about a week now but unfortunately as much as I tried, I wasn't able to get a photo of it. Tonight as we were getting ready to head to Grandma & Grandpa's for Sunday dinner, I was talking to her after putting her in her carseat and she started smiling like crazy. I quickly grabbed the camera and she kept it up. Here is the first photo of her smiling :) Notice the dimple in her right cheek just like Mom and Aunt Linda!
So far the pets are mildly interested in Maddy. The cats smell her and check her out occassionally. Mostly they are interested in her things and can be found in her crib or Pac 'N Play or laying on her toy mat on the floor. The dog is more interested in her and likes to lick her hands, face, feet, pretty much anything she can reach. She lays next to Maddy's crib on the floor when she's in it and gets a little worked up when she cries, wanting to know why you aren't "fixing" it.

We've started doing "tummy time" daily to strengthen Maddy's neck muscles. She usually lasts five to ten minutes before having enough and then she gets fussy. She'll lay on her back on the play mat though for much longer and seems to be pretty into all of the toys and stuffed animals hanging above her. She kicks her legs and waves her arms like crazy!
